Product Review: Nature's Place All Natural Lip Balm

I normally use Merry Hempster's lip balm, which is my favorite lip balm, but the store from where I purchase it has been sold out for weeks. I really needed some lip balm and didn't want to buy online and pay extra for shipping and such, so I broke down and bought Nature's Place All Natural Lip Balm.

Packaging and Price

Nature's Place All Natural Lip Balm is housed in a standard plastic tube of 0.15 ounces (4 grams) net weight which has a dial at the bottom to raise or lower the product. The label is a creamy color with some green areas and a clear lid. On the shelf it is additionally encased in a paper and plastic container which consists of a cardboard backing and a clear plastic blister which holds the lip balm on display. It is easy to remove from the overwrap, but seems like a waste of packaging, as some lip balms are sold as just the tube and no miscellaneous packaging.

The lip balm itself is a clearish-white color and looks basically like wax like most other lip balms I have used. It looks pretty standard to me.

This product is said to be 100% all natural with natural antioxidants and paraben and petroleum free. Ingredients are beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, grapeseed oil, peppermint oil, lanolin (which I am sorry to see as an ingredient), and vitamin E. I am not sure if this is an off brand, but it seems that way to me. However, I am not very knowledgeable to make such determination. It is distributed by DZA Brands in North Carolina. The contact number for this brand is 1-866-322-2439.

I paid only $1.99 for this tube of lip balm, which I think is a very fair and comparable price for a brand that obviously isn't as popular as some others. I purchased this lip balm at Food Lion. I don't know if it's widely available or sold exclusively at this grocery store and its affiliates.

Performance

When I smoothed this balm on my dry lips, I immediately liked it. I felt a light type of wax protecting my lips. I've used some lip balms and had a very heavy nothing-but-wax feeling before, which I despise, and which really doesn't make me feel like my lips are getting nourished or healing at all. My lips feel drier with lip balms like that. This one is certainly not like that. My lips feel moisturized and healthy immediately after applying this lip balm. It's very refreshing.

I also notice a soothing peppermint aroma and taste as well as a little tingling sensation and a very slight, almost unnoticeable, coconut smell and flavor.

I think this product performs very well, especially for the price. As I said, I have tried many lip balms. Some were very high priced and didn't perform well at all. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about this product is that it contains lanolin. However, the price is perfect and the lip balm makes my dry lips feel smooth, healthy, and moisturized. After a number of used this product fairs well in terms of performance and I really like this lip balm. It's almost as good as my normal brand and the price is better.

I do still prefer Merry Hempster's spearmint or peppermint lip balm, but I would consider buying this, despite the small amount of lanolin, when my store is out of stock of my preferred product.
