Serif Software

Currently Serif competes with AdobeÂ’s Photoshop CS5 and Studioline Photo 2 just to mention two of the top competitors. These two competitors both have five star ratings. Adobe Photoshop CS5 works with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, and Mac. Studioline Photo 2 is readily sold on amazon.com. Studioline Photo 2 is a standard photo editing software that allows you to create bitmaps as well as possessing other minor features such as photo sharing.

Serif is a software design company that specializes in photo editing software, web design software, publishing software, movie making software, and several others. Serif provides online resources such as free software which is downloadable from their site. These products are award winning software. Just look at the bottom of the homepage to see a few awards they have won such as the “Top 10 Website” by Experian Hitwise in 2010. You can shop their online website, subscribe to their news letter to read about new products and or updates. Serif offers several support links on their page for subject specific issues to better serve their customers.

Serif designs user friendly software that is easy to use and easy to understand. Their products specifically offer unique features that many other software designers offer but Serif designs their software in a way that even someone who has never used such software before can figure out how to use them. With so many photo editing and publishing software available through other designers, Serif faces harsh competition. They make “free” software that anyone can download and try out before buying the full versions of the same software. So if you don’t need the full version of the software and what you need is already free, then Serif has given you everything you need without asking for anything in return.

Currently Serif competes with Adobe’s Photoshop CS5 and Studioline Photo 2 just to mention two of the top competitors. These two competitors both have five star ratings. Serif blows Studioline Photo 2 out of the water with all of its features and support. Even its free version could be comparable to Studioline Photo 2 with close comparisons of their features. The best competition of the mentioned software designers appears to be Serif and Adobe. Adobe offers an extensive software that is a hard to understand program and requires help videos that are readily available online if searched for. However these help videos still may not answer all of your questions. For those people who have gone to college and learned how to do graphic designing and other computer related art, Adobe would best suit them. For the average everyday individual I would recommend Serrif for its easy to understand and use features.

Studioline Photo 2 runs the lowest in price. It can be purchase at a low price of $30.99 plus shipping through amazon.com. Serif offers their high-end software called PhotoPlus X4 for $89.99. It also comes with online support and compares very closely to Adobe in quality and productivity. Serif also offers lower quality software comparable to Studioline Photo 2 pricing but higher quality and better productivity. Their PhotoPlus Essentials runs $49.99. Adobe Photoshop CS5 runs from $475 to nearly $1300. With prices like this it is no wonder that so many people have yet to experience it firsthand. This is complicated software however.

The Serif X4 photo editing software received a five star rating from techradar.com. Techradar.com wrote an extensive review and starts off with a critical yet complimentary statement, “This latest version of PhotoPlus may not reach Photoshop levels, but that's definitely where it wants to be – and it's not far off.” To read more of this review go to http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/software/graphics-and-media-software/image-editing-software/serif-photoplus-x4-711086/review. Adobe Photoshop CS5 appears to be superior in ratings. PC Magazine rates them with a five star user and editor rating. Their review covers the award winning software which won “Best of the Year” in 2010 by PC Magazine. A quote from the review states, “The most eye-popping of the changes here is Content-Aware Fill.” To read more of this review, go to http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2362428,00.asp.
